[Public Seminar Information] Aiming to Overcome Intractable Kidney Diseases - Current Status of Drug Lag and Loss and Toward Elimination -

2025.11.04

To all members of the Japanese Society of Nephrology

Respect
We would like to once again express our gratitude for your support of our association's activities.

We will be holding a public seminar on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, with the theme "Aiming to Overcome Intractable Kidney Diseases - The Current State of Drug Lag and Loss and Working to Eliminate Them."

In recent years, progress has been made in elucidating the pathology of intractable kidney diseases such as IgA nephropathy, and new drug development has progressed rapidly. Some drugs have been approved overseas and are now being used in clinical settings.
However, there is a "drug lag" (delay in approval) before these promising new drugs reach patients in Japan.
To resolve this urgent issue, representatives from the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and leading academic experts in the field of intractable kidney diseases will come together to share issues, discuss solutions, and aim to avoid drug lag and loss.
On the day, we will discuss the current status of drug discovery in Japan and overseas in the field of intractable kidney diseases, issues with approval reviews, the validity of surrogate endpoints (proteinuria, etc.), etc. We will also present the latest research results (J-IGACS, J-CKD-DB).
We would like to invite members of the Japanese Society of Nephrology to participate, take part in the discussions, and offer their guidance.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you, but we hope that many of you will support the purpose of this event and participate.
